(Hendersonville, NC, 11/21/07) — Walk Wise, Drive Smart Special Event and Guided Walk

On Thursday, December 6, a guided walk will be held in the Sammy Williams neighborhood at 11:30 am. Starting point will be the Sammy Williams Senior Center parking lot at 301 N. Justice Street. Aimed at senior citizens, but open to everyone, we invite you to come enjoy some healthy exercise and help us celebrate the completion of the first of our designated walking routes in the Hendersonville area. The walk will follow the 11:00 ribbon cutting festivities. The Walk Wise, Drive Smart team, representatives from Hendersonville Council on Aging and the City of Hendersonville will be discussing the changes and improvements that have been made on the Sammy Williams walking route and answering questions and listening to suggestions for future changes. The walk is approximately 1.5 miles, and should take about 1 hour. In the event of rain, the formal opening will take place, but the walk may be canceled.

Hike leader and local project manager Sam Lovelace said, "This is a very special event for us. This is the first chance to really get community input about the changes that have been made to this first route, and spread the word about the beneficial aspect of this project - in other words, to encourage more people to take a walk. Please, come join us!"

This walk is one of a series of monthly walks in the Hendersonville community co-sponsored by ECO, Walk Wise, Drive Smart and Diamond Brand Outdoors.
