Walk Sponsored by Walk Wise, Drive Smart, Diamond Brand Outdoors and ECO on, June 5, 2008

(Hendersonville, 05/19/08) — Summer is a' coming in, and we're walking right behind it! On Thursday, June 5, a guided 'adventure' walk will be held at 9:00 a.m. Starting point is Patton Park, right off Highway 25 in Hendersonville. We'll be meeting near the basketball courts. Gary Eblen will be leading this hike, and teaching us a variation on some of our favorite routes. We'll start at Patton Park, go up through Hyman Heights and then by Bruce Drysdale and St James, then walk by HHS and Pardee, up 9th and then through Haywood Forest, across 191 into Druid Hills, and back to Patton. This hike is approximately 3 miles, but more than one guide will be present, and if some of us decide to take a shorter route, that option will be available. We'll be starting early, to beat the heat, and the walk should take 1 – 1½ hours.

Aimed at senior citizens but open to everyone, we invite you to come ring in the summer season with a bit of companionship and healthy exercise. Canceled in the event of severe weather.

"It is such a joy to explore new routes, see new corners of this beautiful town and share them with other walkers. It definitely expands one's horizons!" says onsite project manager, Sam Lovelace, "We hope you'll join us."

This walk is one of a series of monthly walks in the Hendersonville community co-sponsored by and Walk Wise, Drive Smart, Diamond Brand Outdoors and ECO.
