CarFit Event sponsored by Walk Wise, Drive Smart, NC AARP, and the Healthy Aging Coalition of Henderson County part of the Healthy Lifestyle Expo on May 17th.

(Hendersonville, NC, 5/3/07) — On Thursday, May 17th, CarFit will be offered by Walk Wise, Drive Smart and the Healthy Aging Coalition of Henderson County from 1 to 5 pm at the Blue Ridge Mall. The drive-through clinic will be featured during the Hendersonville Chamber of Commerce Healthy Lifestyles Expo. Please note that the event will be located at the rear of the mall.

CarFit is an educational program developed by The American Society on Aging (ASA) in partnership with AAA, AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) to offer older adults an opportunity to see how they "fit" within their vehicle. By helping drivers assess seat and mirror adjustments, seatbelt fit, and other things, a team of trained volunteers and professionals work with individuals to enhance their ability to drive more comfortably and safely. An occupational therapist will be on hand to offer suggestions for adults with physical limitations.

Appointments are suggested for this event. To register, call 687-3947. For more information about CarFit, call Michele Skeele, 692-4203.
