Spring into Walking with the Walk Wise Drive Smart Initiative.
Walk Wise, Drive Smart is a community-based pedestrian safety program working to build community support for and awareness of senior-pedestrian safety issues. Learn more about this collaborative effort at: www.walk-wise.org.
A series of walks and education will take place throughout the spring and early summer on the Thursdays in Henderson County. These community walks are free, open to the public and co-sponsored by Walk Wise, Drive Smart, Diamond Brand Outdoors, and the Healthy Aging Coalition of Henderson County.
May 6th, 9am, Oklawaha Greenway, 3.8 miles round trip. Meet at Patton Park shelter next to the steel footbridge. Led by Gary Eblen.
May 20th, 9am, Naturalist Urban Hike, Meet at Patton Park shelter next to steel footbridge. Led by Michele Skeele.
June 3rd, 9am, Main Street to Hyman Heights, 2.43 mile loop. Meet at Patton Park shelter next to the steel footbridge. Led by Gary Eblen.
June 17th, 10:30 am, Watch Out for Us! Presentation on Pedestrian Safety, a 45-mintue pedestrian safety presentation at the Sammy Williams Center for Active Living.
July 1st, 9am, West Hendersonville Walking Route, 1.92 mile loop. Meet at the Sammy Williams Center (301 N. Justice Street). Led by Gary Eblen.
August 5th, 9am, Carl Sandburg Home, A variety of opportunities for walks at various distances. Meet at the Sandburg Parking Lot. Led by Gary Eblen.
