Join us for Be Active Day!

Blue Ridge Mall

Saturday, January 28, 2012, 11:00 am 3:00 pm

First held in January 2009, Be Active Day is a free, annual event that encourages families and children to be more active through daily play and physical activity. We are inviting agencies that care about our community’s health to participate in this event. Our goal is to show children and adults that physical activity can be fun and not always hard work. We would like your participation in Be Active Day and encourage you to use your imagination! You could have an exhibit with activities and games that encourage movement, play, and physical activity; and offer give-a-ways and incentives. In addition, it is an opportunity to tell people about your business, programs, and/or services.

New this year is The Healthy Henderson Fitness Challenge, a community-wide event designed to help participants continue to include physical activity as a long-lasting habit once Be Active Day is over. Please consider being included in this new fitness challenge by partnering with the health department in this exciting new event! We are looking for fitness centers and private businesses to offer activities to partner with us in encouraging Henderson County residents to try something new. For $10, community members can purchase a punch card good for 24 visits in 8 weeks. As a participating center, you’ll just have to add a punch to the card for each visit. This is an excellent way to get people into your organization on a long- term basis! For example, if a gym agrees to participate they will punch the card when the participant comes to their organization, and this can help each participant evaluate what type of exercise will work for them on a long-term basis. Think of it as a trial pass and free promotion for your fitness center.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Be Active Day!
